Citizenship Camp
StoryTellers of the American Frontier was founded to provide programming that is life altering and that builds the individual from the inside. This character-based initiative coupled with real life lessons in the application of character is powerful in that it reaches youth on a personal level. The Citizenship Camp is a three (3) day program. Each day a different theme is examined using the same model. By the third day, students have grown accustomed to the model and are able to achieve maximum benefit from the lessons. The Citizenship Camp is an array of activities designed to provide learning reinforced with practical activities and exercises. Principles taught are then practiced and exercised through activities. The pace is intense and designed to challenge the youth and to reward and recognize their application of what they are learning. These exercises are not recreational and there is a very serious tone that is established and maintained throughout the sessions. There are team-building exercises that require each individual to assume a leadership role. There will also be classroom/workbook exercises. There is role-playing and competition between teams. These exercise are comprehensive, each building on discoveries from the previous activity. There are take home assignment at the end of each session (day). The third assignment is one that the student are to complete and evaluate on their own. The complete program addresses the following:
